Client: European Tech Tour
Event: The English Tech Tour
Venue: Imperial College London, Southampton University National Oceanography Centre, Royal Southampton Yacht Club, Blossoms Hotel Chester, Various Chester venues, Radisson Edwardian Manchester, Manchester United, University of Manchester Incubator Facility, Oracle in Reading
Criteria: For its 27th edition, the Tech Tour visited England for the second time and showcased its rich culture of technology and innovation. The English Tech Tour highlighted this enormous potential and depth during its unique two-day tour across the country.
Participation was limited to 60 privately invited international professionals featuring a broad spectrum of senior representatives from VC funds, leading corporations and institutional investors. The English Tech Tour met a double agenda, first showcasing 25+ of England's most promising technology companies for potential investment or partnership secondly for companies to extend their local network in England.
The agenda included interactions and meetings with a range of key figures from various disciplines - venture capital, corporate, entrepreneurs and academia.
The brief includes
Showcasing the best of English high growth, early stage
technology companies to select international and local
VCs and helping these companies achieve funding and/or
alliance partnerships.
Promoting "hot" English tech regions and perhaps the less
well known ones - Manchester, Southampton, as well as
London, and the Thames Valley.
Promoting new technologies. This included internet security,
clean tech, nanotechnology etc as well as electronic systems,
optical components, terminals and peripherals, networking,
software applications, platform and infrastructure, medical
devices etc.
Promote commercialisation of technology from the universities
Raising the profiles of VCs and especially tech VCs in the UK -
everybody knows about Private Equity from all the recent
press coverage, but they needed more promotion and
especially more funding for tech venture capital in the UK.

Generate deals amongst tour delegates
Showcase English culture to our international delegates -
with some surprises we hope - and have a great deal of fun!
Solution:
To take the delegates to 7 presentation venues around England, using various methods of transport and also to provide them with an interesting, cultural and fun evening.
Moving 70 people on a very tight schedule meant everything had to run like clockwork, or have the flexibility to change at a moments notice.
Was it a success?Yes, the delegates and European Tech Tour association have deemed the English Tech Tour 2007 a great success.
"Thanks to all of you and especially Stephanie and Peter at Rede2 for managing all the operations so smoothly"
